With a name inspired by the fishing vessel used historically in Nova Scotia, Hunky Dory celebrates the beloved French fry, its delectable versatility, and the renowned East Coast success story that influenced the menu of this whimsical take-out in the heart of Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia. Alongside the savoury, Hunky Dory will serve gourmet soft serve ice cream treats.
Hunky Dory is seeking a reliable, hardworking, passionate, creative, and detail-oriented person to assist with preparing and cooking a variety of dishes, ensuring that the food is of high quality, while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking, an interest in gaining new culinary skills, and the ability to work in a positive fast-paced environment. This individual will report directly to the head Chef.
Required Skills/Knowledge
· Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
· Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
· Ability to maintain a positive attitude, especially while under pressure.
- Line/prep cook experience preferred.
- Capacity to work as an individual and as part of a team.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to follow directions, cooking techniques and recipes.
· Willingness to help with any task as required, including duties not listed within the scope of this job description.
· Ability to stand for extended periods of time, and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
What You’ll Do:
· Prepare all required food prep and line cooking tasks efficiently and accurately.
· Ensure that food quality standards, safety standards, and recipes are adhered to.
· Receiving, handling, replenishing, and processing incoming food products.
· Assisting with maintaining a clean, safe and positive working environment.
· Monitor physical surroundings in assigned area prior to and throughout the day for safety, cleanliness, functionality, and sanitation guidelines.
· Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure orders are prepared in a timely manner.
· Ensure all equipment is in working order, and report any issues to the head Chef.
· Daily cleaning of the kitchen, including daily, weekly, and monthly tasks lists.

Job Types: Seasonal – Seasonal Full and Part time
Contract length: 5 months
Wage: $18.00 per hour, PLUS TIPS.
Must have the ability to commute:

Schedule:
- 4-10 hour shifts
- Day/late afternoon shifts
- Holidays
- Take-out open 7 days a week
Education:
- Secondary School (preferred)
Experience:
- Previous experience in a food service environment- 1 year (preferred)
