Our operation operates on several interior lakes and waterways including but not limited to Shuswap Lake, Nicola Lake, Kamloops Lake, Okanagan Lake, Kootenay Lake, and Cultus Lake. Experience on these lakes and others similar is essential.
Essential Responsibilities
- Ensures the vessel crew meets IMC safety standards and follows safe operating procedures
- Operational control and knowledge of tugboat in all aspects of towing barges
- Interacts closely with crew and management and manages the day-to-day operation of vessel and crew
- Communicates with shore-based team to promote efficiency and safety in the entire operation
- May perform other duties including deckhand duties, rigging, and operating heavy machinery as required
Qualifications
- Knowledge BC Interior waterways
- 3 to 5 years' sea service towing barges and/or towing logs
- Domestic Vessel Safety
- ROC-M or ROC-MC
- SVOP
- Marine Basic First Aid
- Knowledge, familiarity and demonstrated skill in maintaining vessel machinery and navigation electronics
- Must be familiar with towing barges in tight quarters
- Strong communication, supervisory, interpersonal and leadership skills
- Excellent tug/barge safety record and demonstrated boat handling skills
Work Conditions
- This will be a contract position with the potential for full-time employment
- Working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Handling heavy lines and wire bridles and operating heavy machinery (deck and anchor winches) from time to time

Pay: $35.00-$50.00 per hour
