Responsibilities

Fibre-splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fibre sites and links
Build fibre optic splice closures (FOSCs), prep, and splice OSP fibre cables into various FOSCs for fibre size 12 FOC to 432 FOC
Fibre dressing in pedestals, service boxes, vaults, and manholes
Fusion splice Outside Plant and inside buildings MDU
Testing fiber with the use of an OTDR, Power Meter, Live Fibre Identifier, VFL
Completing all related administrative tasks, time and material reporting, inspection reports, inventory reports, etc.
Wear appropriate safety equipment and follow established safety practices and procedures.
May be required to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company.

Qualifications

Minimum 1-year work experience with fiber fusion splicing, line work
Familiarity with optical test equipment such as power meter, OTDR is an asset
Be able to carry and also climb a 28-foot extension ladder.
Ability to perform the essential duties of the job which include lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, clearly identify colored cables.
Certification in confined space and/or first aid CPR is an asset
Excellent communication, inter-personal skills, teamwork and collaborative abilities
Must have a valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
Knowledge of bonding and grounding telecommunications plant

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $35.00 per hour
