What is a Belt Scale Technician ? Million dollar question, but we are giving it a go/answer! It's a big niche market. Many conveyor belts in many industries having weighing machines, we build and service those weighing machines. We also support other products like, rail weighing equipment such as RailBoss, line tension meters and crane load pins.

About the Role

The Technician is responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, inspection and servicing of belt weighing and associated equipment while delivering a high standard of customer service.

This role requires a proactive approach, strong technical capability, excellent communication skills and personal accountability to ensure customer expectations and business objectives are achieved.

You will work closely with customers, internal teams and industry specialists while developing valuable technical and project management skills.

What You'll Be Doing

Technical Service Delivery

Install, commission and service belt weighing mechanical and electronic platforms, and associated equipment.
Perform calibration, maintenance, fault finding, diagnostics and repairs.
Troubleshoot equipment issues and provide practical solutions.
Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and professionally.

Customer Service

Communicate professionally with customers before, during and after site visits.
Build strong customer relationships through technical expertise and service excellence.
Identify customers, needs for next stage of service or equipment requirements to optimise their weighing systems.
Escalate customer concerns when required and contribute to effective solutions.

Reporting & Administration

Complete service reports, calibration certificates and technical documentation within 24 hours of leaving site.
Ensure documentation is accurate, professional and customer-ready.
Assist with technical drawings and administrative requirements as required.

Teamwork & Continuous Improvement

Participate in toolbox meetings, team meetings and improvement initiatives.
Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality and efficiency.
Contribute positively to a growing and supportive team culture.

Safety & Compliance

Follow all company and customer safety procedures.
Complete hazard assessments and safety documentation.
Promote safe work practices at all times.
Operate company vehicles safely and professionally.

Travel Requirements

Regular travel to customer sites throughout British Columbia, Eastern Canada and the USA.
Overnight travel may be required.
Flexibility to respond to customer and operational requirements.

What We're Looking For

Essential

Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving ability.
Ability to use and understand Electronic controls equipment
Valid driver's licence.
Ability to work safely in industrial environments.

Desirable

Relevant industry background or Technical trade qualification.
Previous field service experience.
Experience in mining, aggregates, bulk materials handling, industrial manufacturing, instrumentation or process control environments.
Experience with belt weighing systems or related technologies preferred but not expected
Electrical, instrumentation or PLC exposure.

This is not a job where you'll spend your day sitting behind a desk.

Some days you'll be working on conveyor systems in mines, quarries, terminals and industrial facilities. You'll be climbing structures, aligning idlers to extremely tight tolerances, installing load cells, commissioning instrumentation and troubleshooting communications back to PLC and control systems. Assembly and testing work in the factory, too.

The work can be physically demanding, dirty, challenging and sometimes involve long days. However, if you enjoy solving technical problems, working with your hands, managing your own projects and seeing the direct results of your work, you'll find it incredibly rewarding.
