About the Role
Reporting to the Facility Operations Manager, you'll play a vital role in supporting our construction, trucking, maintenance, and field operations by managing the flow, organization, security, and accountability of materials, tools, equipment, parts, rentals, and consumable supplies.
Your work will directly impact project efficiency, inventory accuracy, procurement, and operational readiness across the company.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Warehouse Management
- Maintain accurate inventory records for materials, tools, equipment, parts, and consumables in yard and crew trucks.
- Perform cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Organize warehouse, yard, storage, and staging areas for maximum efficiency.
- Prepare and issue materials to field crews and shop personnel.
- Monitor stock levels, shortages, overstock situations, and high-use items.
Receiving & Distribution
- Receive, inspect, verify, and document incoming deliveries.
- Match shipments with purchase orders and packing slips.
- Unload, label, organize, and properly store incoming materials and equipment.
- Coordinate distribution of materials to job sites and departments.
- Maintain receiving documentation and inventory system updates.
Purchasing & Procurement Support
- Obtain supplier quotations and pricing.
- Assist with purchasing materials, tools, equipment, and consumables.
- Prepare and process purchase orders.
- Verify supplier invoices and resolve discrepancies.
- Support vendor management and sourcing activities.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative suppliers.
Equipment & Rental Coordination
- Coordinate equipment and tool rentals, including ordering, delivery, tracking, and returns.
- Monitor rental utilization and recommend purchase opportunities when cost-effective.
- Track company tool and equipment assignments.
- Coordinate repairs, maintenance, inspections, warranties, and replacements.
- Maintain equipment accountability records.
Yard & Facility Operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and yard.
- Conduct routine inspections of tools and equipment.
- Assist with facility maintenance and grounds upkeep.
- Support asset management and equipment readiness initiatives.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain current Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Ensure compliance with company health and safety policies.
- Assist with fire extinguisher inspections and tracking.
- Protect company assets through proper storage and inventory control.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, logistics, construction support, or a related field.
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience maintaining inventory systems and records.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work.
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in construction, industrial, fleet, or maintenance environments.
- Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Knowledge of construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Purchasing or procurement experience.
- Experience using inventory management software.
