Full job description

Position Summary

Talent Employment Inc. is hiring reliable and hardworking Prep Cooks for clients across the GTA and Durham Region. We are seeking individuals with strong food preparation skills who can support kitchen operationswhile maintaining high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, cutting, chopping, slicing, and portioning food items.
Assist cooks and chefs with daily food preparation and kitchen operations.
Prepare basic food items according to recipes, portion standards, and instructions.
Label, date, store, and rotate food products properly.
Maintain clean and organized food preparation areas, equipment, and utensils.
Monitor food quality and report any concerns to the supervisor or chef.
Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and cross-contamination prevention procedures.
Assist with receiving and storing food supplies when required.
Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times.
Perform other kitchen and food preparation duties as assigned.

Requirements

Previous prep cook, kitchen helper, or food preparation experience is preferred.
Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and portion guidelines.
Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and food safety.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods and lift kitchen supplies as required.
Flexible to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Qualifications

Food Handler Certification is preferred.
High School Diploma or equivalent is an asset.
Previous kitchen or food preparation experience is an asset.
WHMIS certification is an asset.
