Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

Reports To: Pharmacy Manager/Pharmacist-in-Charge

About Us

Mornelle IDA Drug Mart is a community-focused, independently owned pharmacy dedicated to providing personalized care and service to our patients. We are looking for a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our team. Must have a background in pharmacy.

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Assistant supports the pharmacist and pharmacy team in the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, including customer service, prescription processing, inventory management, and administrative tasks. This role requires accuracy, discretion, and a genuine commitment to patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Greet and assist customers at the counter and over the phone in a courteous and professional manner
Receive prescriptions from patients and enter/process them into the pharmacy management system
Prepare prescriptions for pharmacist verification (counting, labeling, packaging medications)
Manage prescription pick-up and drop-off, including verifying patient information
Process payments, insurance claims, and third-party billing
Answer routine, non-clinical questions from patients and refer clinical questions to the pharmacist
Maintain accurate patient records and confidentiality in accordance with privacy regulations
Order, receive, and stock pharmaceutical and retail inventory
Monitor stock levels and expiry dates; rotate stock as needed
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment
Assist with front-store retail sales and merchandising, if applicable
Support administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and communicating with physicians' offices

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required
Fluent in Tamil & English
Pharmacy Assistant/Technician certification or diploma preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Previous experience in a pharmacy or retail/customer service setting is an asset
Familiarity with pharmacy software systems such as fillware
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Basic math and computer skills
Understanding of patient confidentiality requirements

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
