About the Position
A&R Plumbing & Mechanical Service Inc. is hiring two experienced Journeyman Plumbers to provide plumbing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair services in high-rise condominium buildings throughout Toronto and the GTA.
The successful candidates will be comfortable working independently in occupied residential buildings and communicating professionally with residents, property managers, building superintendents, and condominium management staff.
This position reports to the Foreman.
Main Responsibilities
- Respond to scheduled and emergency plumbing service calls in high-rise condominium buildings
- Diagnose and repair leaks, drainage problems, water-supply issues, pressure problems, and plumbing fixture failures
- Perform plumbing repairs in residential units, common areas, mechanical rooms, parking areas, and other building spaces
- Repair and replace faucets, toilets, cartridges, valves, piping, fixtures, drains, and related plumbing components
- Investigate water leaks and provide clear findings and repair recommendations
- Perform domestic water-system repairs, riser work, shutdowns, and maintenance
- Work on drainage systems, sanitary piping, domestic water piping, valves, pumps, and mechanical-room equipment
- Coordinate building shutdowns and service access with the Foreman, property managers, and building staff
- Complete work orders, service reports, timesheets, material records, and job photographs
- Protect residents’ property and maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials responsibly
- Follow all company, building, and job-site health and safety requirements
- Support and mentor apprentices or junior workers when assigned
Required Qualifications
- Valid Ontario Plumber 306A Certificate of Qualification
- Active status in good standing with Skilled Trades Ontario
- Minimum five years of experience working as a licensed Journeyman Plumber
- Experience in high-rise condominium plumbing or residential service plumbing
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience with domestic water systems, drainage systems, riser piping, valves, pumps, and mechanical rooms
- Ability to diagnose plumbing problems and complete service calls independently
- Knowledge of applicable Ontario plumbing and building-code requirements
- Ability to communicate professionally with residents, building staff, property managers, and condominium management
- Ability to complete service reports, timesheets, job photographs, and material records accurately
- Valid Ontario G driver’s licence
- Acceptable driving record
- Ability and willingness to operate a company vehicle and travel throughout Toronto and the GTA
- Availability to participate in the company’s emergency-service rotation
- Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, reliability, and professional conduct
- Legal authorization to work in Canada
Other Qualifications
- Experience coordinating domestic water shutdowns and riser repairs
- Experience handling emergency plumbing calls in occupied buildings
- Experience with leak investigations and water-damage prevention
- Drain-cleaning or camera-inspection experience
- Hydronic heating, pump, or boiler-system experience
- Current Ontario-approved Working at Heights training
- Current WHMIS and Ontario Worker Health and Safety Awareness training
- Backflow-prevention certification
- Gas Technician certification
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Confined-space or other relevant safety training
- Experience mentoring apprentices
- Red Seal endorsement
Applicants with expired safety certificates may still be considered if they are willing to complete the required training before performing work for which the certification is required.
Schedule
- Full-time, generally Monday to Friday
- Eight working hours per day
- Start and finish times may vary depending on service calls, building requirements, and emergency work
- Emergency-service rotation approximately one week every three weeks
- Occasional evening, weekend, overnight, or public-holiday work may be required during the assigned emergency rotation
All actual working time and applicable overtime will be recorded and paid in accordance with Ontario employment standards and company policy.
Compensation
$40.00–$50.00 per hour, based on high-rise experience, technical ability, service and troubleshooting experience, qualifications, and additional certifications.
