Our client is a highly successful producing mining company, seeking an experienced Operations Controller to join their team in this newly created role. Based at the corporate head office in downtown Vancouver.
Our rapidly growing Vancouver-based client is seeking an experienced Operations Controller to join their dynamic and entrepreneurial team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a CPA who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment and wants to play a key role within an international organization.
The ideal candidate will bring strong IFRS knowledge, exceptional financial reporting skills, and preferably Spanish fluency. While industry experience is preferred, the client will also consider Manager/Senior Manager candidates coming directly from public practice who have strong experience with natural resources clients. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with operational teams, influence business decisions, and contribute to the continued success of a growing international mining organization.
Reporting directly to the CFO and Director of Finance at the corporate head office in Vancouver, you will also work closely with the Director of Finance and accounting team based in Mexico. You will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, accounting operations, and consolidations for the company’s Mexican entities, while providing financial support and insights to operational leadership.
Requirements

A Canadian CPA designation, or a foreign designation with reciprocity, along with a minimum of 3 years of relevant Canadian experience.

5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience supporting operations within a producing mining or oil & gas company.

Candidates coming directly from public practice at the Manager/Senior Manager level will also be considered, provided they have experience working with natural resources clients.

Strong understanding of and hands-on experience with financial reporting under IFRS.

Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.

Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a passion for continuous learning.

Humble enough to know when to ask for help and comfortable asking questions.

Bright, detail-oriented, and able to work independently, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships across the organization.

Ability and willingness to travel to Mexico on a regular basis.
