Assistant Building Manager
Vernon, British Columbia

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced an Assistant Building Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a well maintained residential rental property in Vernon, BC. This role offers the chance to take pride in the stewardship of a residential community while building strong relationships with residents and ensuring the property operates smoothly.

This position is well suited to a motivated and service-oriented individual who enjoys a hands-on role that combines customer service, leasing, and building maintenance. The successful candidate will reside on site and play an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming living environment for residents.

Position Overview
The Assistant Building Manager is responsible for the daily oversight of the property including leasing activity, general maintenance, tenant communication, and coordination of service providers. The role requires a balance of customer service, organization, and practical maintenance abilities.

Schedule & Hours

32 hours per week inclduing mandatory Saturday

Primary Responsibilities

Coordinate the move in and move out process including inspections and documentation
Maintain building common areas to a high standard of cleanliness and presentation
Prepare vacant suites to ensure they are clean and ready for viewing or occupancy
Complete routine maintenance tasks such as painting, replacing fixtures, clearing minor plumbing issues, and changing locks
Manage maintenance requests and track work orders to completion
Address resident questions, concerns, and service requests in a professional and timely manner
Maintain accurate records related to rent payments, parking assignments, and tenancy documentation
Arrange and coordinate contractors or vendors for repairs requiring specialized work
Ensure tenancy practices align with the Residential Tenancy Act of British Columbia
Remain available for urgent building matters or scheduled appointments outside regular hours
Conduct suite showings and respond to rental inquiries from prospective residents

Experience and Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of experience in Building Management or similar residential property role
Demonstrated ability to manage tenant relations and resolve conflicts professionally
Experience coordinating tenant move ins and move outs including inspections
Practical maintenance skills including minor plumbing, painting, and general repairs
Ability to maintain building cleanliness and oversee the overall presentation of the property
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Clear communication and customer service skills
Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office
Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle required
Successful completion of a criminal record check satisfactory to the employer is required
