POSITION: Behvioural Therapist/Clinical Counsellor/
The Behvioural Therapist is accountable to the Clinical Director, Youth Services Director and CEO.

JOB SUMMARY:
We are looking for a Behavioural Therapist to work in a new SHSS Low-Barrier Short Term Stabilization Care house (LBSTSC). The Behavioral Therapist will work directly with the children/youth and the staff in a 2-bed home. Their job will include working collaboratively with the Clinical Counsellor to develop the SHSS service plan. The Behavioral Therapist will implement behavioral intervention strategies and programs based on the individuals’ needs and preferences, utilizing psychosocial and trauma informed approaches to ensure the efficacy and quality of the strategies. The Behavior Therapist will monitor staff implementation of supports, write progress reports and inform the care team of progress on their goals. In addition, the Behavior therapist will provide training to staff, parents/guardians, caregivers, Out-of-Care providers and/or other service providers in the SHSS program and others to implement individualized plans for the children and youth. The Behavioral Therapist will have incorporate knowledge of First Nations culture, cultural safety, trauma-informed care and gender-affirming care in support planning.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Supports the Clinical Counselor with development of the SHSS Service Plan, in collaboration with the child or youth and their SHSS Care Circle.
· Supports the Clinical Counselor with development of the plans for each child’s/youth’s stabilization and transition out of the LBSTSC Services.
· Provides functional behavioural assessment, needs identification, goal/strategy development, and provides consultation/liaison with community agencies, schools, hospitals, and other Ministry programs.
· Develops behavioural planning for crisis mitigation and stabilization.
· Develops and maintains behavioural intervention strategies and programs for children/youth and families and provides training to parents/Guardians, caregivers, Out-of-Care providers and/or other service providers in the SHSS Program to facilitate successfully living in the community (in collaboration and alignment with the primary community supports to the parents/Guardians, caregivers, Out-of-Care providers and/or other service providers in the SHSS Program).
· Supports individuals and groups to achieve more effective personal, social and vocational development.
· Provides training to Service Provider Personnel, parents/Guardians, caregivers, Out-of-Care providers and/or other service providers in the SHSS Program, and others to implement individualized plans for children and youth.

· Keeps current on literature and research in the field; and provides up-to-date best practice information.
· Maintains related records and prepares reports
· Work with the Clinical Counsellor to create and/or provide staff training (e.g. FASD, trauma, Collaborative Problem Solving, attachment and child development) as necessary.
· Contributes to ongoing program development.
· Participates in accreditation activities.
· Attends regular operations meetings including program staff meetings as necessary.
· Available to travel within BC as needed for training, education and supervision as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
· Master’s degree in Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master's level AND is registered and in good standing with appropriate professional college or associations (e.g. RCC, CCC), if eligible.
· Must have experience working with youth ages 5 to 18 who may have experienced trauma, mental health concerns, complex developmental behavior concerns, drug use, suicidal ideation, self-harm or intellectual or developmental disability.
· Must have experience working with integrated case management and working collaboratively with Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and other related professionals.
· Current First Aid
· MANDT Certificate or equivalent.
· Class 5 driving license, acceptable driver’s abstract and a vehicle.
· Criminal Record Check.
· MCFD Clearance
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Knowledge of case management and wraparound principles.
· Knowledge of supervisory principles.
· Knowledge of appropriate MCFD Standards.
· Basic knowledge of drug and alcohol misuse.
· Knowledge of harm reduction model.
· Excellent organizational, time, and general management skills.
· Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills as well as computer literacy.
· Ability to work evenings and/weekends.
· Knowledge of MCFD and community resources for children and youth.
· Knowledge of conflict resolution, crisis management, de-escalation strategies
· Must be able to work 35hrs per week and be flexible in the work schedule to accommodate the needs of the children/youth.

Pay: $48.00-$52.00 per hour
