About us:

Binkadi Community Services (BCS) is hiring Specialized Child and Youth Workers. BCS supports children and youth with complex care needs in staffed community-based homes. Some supported individuals display challenging behaviours, and our team members are expected to respond calmly, and in line with the individual's care plan. BCS is committed to empowering children and youth through safe, supportive, trauma-informed care.

Can confidently maintain consistent and clear boundaries and expectations

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Working with individuals towards their goals and transition planning
Implementation of the children & youth’s individual care plans
Supporting children and youth with developing skills to manage their emotional, social, and development needs; both in the home and in community settings
Using de-escalation techniques to support during challenging situations
Providing a safe, secure home environment, including household management and meal preparation
Working with the child and youth’s community teams
Transporting to and from appointments and activities
Maintaining health, safety, and professional standards at all times
Medication administration

Experience and Education:

Experience working with individuals with significant mental-health challenges, high-risk behaviours, and/or trauma, preferred
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered
Recent graduates with a practicum in a residential or community setting are encouraged to apply.
Training in ASIST, Mandt, Non-Violent Communication, and/or Behaviour Support, are assets.

Evening and weekend availability required.

All candidates must pass MCFD screening, which includes a Vulnerable Sector check and Prior Contact Check.

Candidates must have a valid BC Driver’s license.
