Waterford Home Building Centre is looking for a motivated and customer-focused Customer Service Desk Associate to join our team. This position is ideal for someone with strong lumber and building material knowledge who enjoys helping customers, solving problems, and working in a fast-paced retail environment.
We are seeking a team member who is passionate about customer service and can confidently assist homeowners, contractors, and DIY customers with their building material and project needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service in person and over the telephone.
- Assist customers in selecting the correct lumber, building materials, and related products for their projects.
- Process sales transactions, customer orders, and account holder purchases accurately and efficiently.
- Answer incoming phone calls while managing multiple customer inquiries and tasks.
- Pull customer orders from store shelves and warehouse locations.
- Assist with loading and carrying merchandise when required.
- Open and close the store following company procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional customer service area.
- Work closely with fellow team members to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Stay informed on products, promotions, and industry knowledge to better serve customers.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong knowledge of lumber, building materials, and basic construction practices is required.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong listening skills and the ability to identify customer needs.
- Ability to multitask in a busy retail environment.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Previous retail, customer service, or building supply experience is considered a strong asset.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Must be capable of pulling and staging customer orders from both the sales floor and warehouse.
Availability
- Must be available to work days, evenings, and weekends.
- Full-time schedule based on business needs.
