About the Job
The Registered Nurse:

Provides nursing care to Long-term Care patients, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
Enhances quality of life for the patient and family; consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers
Demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence based practice in nursing practice
Maintains and advances own clinical competence
Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned

This is a Casual opportunity. Casual Employees are not guaranteed hours of work and can range from 0-37.5 hours per week on an as-needed basis.
Shifts of work will be scheduled days, evenings and nights rotating 07:00 to 15:00, 15:00 to 23:00, 23:00 to 07:00 hours.

About this Location
Cottonwoods Care Centre is a 213 bed, one storey building centrally located on Ethel Street in beautiful Kelowna, BC. The original building was completed in 1976, and in 1984 an addition was completed bringing the facility to its current state occupying 156,080 square feet. The Aberdeen Unit has 60 Short Stay beds including 1 respite bed. Bridgeway is our special populations unit comprised of 27 beds - typical clients are younger adults. The Cadder Court and Driftwood Units have 42 beds respectively. Ethel Glen Unit is a secured dementia unit with 42 beds including one respite bed. The building also houses our Gerontology Centre, where geriatric clients are referred for consultation with an interdisciplinary team including our in-house geriatrician.

Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
Post - basic education in gerontology an asset
