Kelowna’s Gospel Mission (KGM) is a faith-based, non-profit organization walking alongside individuals experiencing homelessness and housing instability. As a Resident Support Worker/Custodian (RSW-C) at KGM, you oversee frontline activities, ensuring a safe environment for individuals experiencing homelessness. From assisting clients with basic needs to supporting their transition, you play a vital role in upholding our core values of respect and dignity. Your contributions have a profound impact on the lives of those we serve, embodying the essence of our organization's mission and values. Bay Ave operates an Overdose Prevention Site with supervised consumption.

Key Responsibilities

Facilitate shelter activities that promote well-being and community engagement

Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the shelter, adhering to health and safety standards

De-escalate conflicts and ensure the safety of all residents

Provide compassionate support to residents and maintain accurate client records.

Assist with general housekeeping duties and managing residents’ belongings

Position Requirements

Minimum of 3-months experience in social work or related field;

Completion of High School Diploma as a minimum;

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred;

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Teams, and other relevant platforms;

Exceptional interpersonal skills, encompassing active listening, conflict resolution, and negotiation, to build strong relationships within the team and with external partners.

This position is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (Vulnerable Sector)
