Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Labourer to join our team. This role involves supporting various operational tasks across our facilities, ensuring smooth workflow and safety compliance with a wage scale of $21.40-$22.40/ hour for 40 hours per week. The positions include operating a saw or process machine, finishing grade 1, flagging/splitting squares, operating the guillotine and piling off the guillotine. This posting is for an immediate job vacancy as well as upcoming opportunities for expansion of production. The ideal candidate is physically capable, reliable, and eager to contribute to a dynamic work environment.
JOB DUTIES:
- Follow work instructions and meet production targets
- Assist with site preparation, cleanup, and organization of work areas and uphold safety standards
- Effective follow all safe working practices and always wearing proper personal protective equipment
- Strong ability to work with team members in a respectful manner
- Ensuring that all Owen Sound Ledgerock Ltd. machines and equipment are treated with respect
- Creating and maintaining a quality product in a safe and timely manner
Operating a Saw
- Read tickets and load stone onto a saw table with a handheld crane
- Program saw to make cuts
- Remove stone and place on skids
Operating a Process Machine or veneer
- Read tickets and load stone onto a saw table with a handheld crane or by hand
- Program machine to process the stone
- Remove stone and place on skids
Flagging/Splitting Squares
- Splitting flag stone using hammer, chisel, pry bar, and round sledge properly
- Sorting and piling stone neatly onto pallets as per the thickness
Operating the Guillotine
- Ensure stone is lined up, feed it into the machine, split at proper thickness, and that the pace is suitable to maximize production while respecting the speed of the employee pilling the stone
- Operate the splitter safely to feed stone through to the employees that are pilling
Piling off the Guillotine
- Sort, lift, and pile stone off the guillotine and stack neatly onto pallets as per thickness
Finisher Grade 1
- All sanding of flat pieces of stone
- Sanding of profiles that have been completed on a machine and require no chisel work.
- Cutting drips into stone
- Gluing corners that have a butt joint
- Ability to interpret shop tickets.
- Ability to pack finished product on skids and complete skids tags
- All work on Pro edge
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Ability to be self motivated and meet production targets
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks consistently throughout the shift including lifts of 50 lbs.
- Strong work ethic with attention to safety standards
- Ability to follow instructions carefully and work well within a team environment
- Strong communication skills including verbal and written
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Basic Math skills and ability to read a tape measure
- Most jobs are indoors but some require the ability to work outside, in both hot and cold temperatures and stand for long periods of time
