Just a short drive outside Kamloops city limits, off Highway 1, the winery, and vineyards, straddle the Thompson River making for a breathtaking view. Monte Creek Winery is producing world-class wines in the Thompson Valley and is a must-see tourist attraction.
About the Role
You will be working alongside the Hospitality Manager, managing the Terrace Kitchen, developing menu items and supporting the Terrace Front of House.
This is a key role. However, you will be surrounded with other like-minded professionals that will support you in your quest to succeed. Teamwork and building a winning culture is at the top of our organization’s focus.
Responsibilities
Culinary
- Setting up the kitchen for success as well as closing properly and efficiently
- Preparing menu items
- Developing and preparing specials
- Delegating tasks to team members and ensuring that they are done to satisfaction
- Overseeing all staff in the kitchen and terrace, making sure everything is running smoothly between departments
- Rotating stock using the FIFO principles and making sure everything is stored correctly
- Ordering and receiving stock as needed
- Preparing, producing and presenting food items, and ensuring the highest quality
- Maintaining a clean, sanitary and safe workspace at all times to avoid contamination
- Ensuring proper equipment operation and maintenance procedures are observed
- Ensuring work assignments and daily tasks are completed
- Managing daily kitchen set up and closing as required
- Being aware of and following all kitchen health and safety regulations and guidelines
- Ensuring proper recycling procedures are adhered to
Terrace
- Support all food and beverage service standards
- Work closely with Terrace staff to ensure service runs smoothly from beginning to end
- Ensure food service operations on the Terrace are seamless and up to Company standards
- Ensure that staff are kept busy and working at all times
Other Duties
- Ensure all staff are following the uniform code and dressed appropriately for work
- Help manage labour based on business levels and trends
- Event support as required
- Assist other departments as needed
- Other duties as required
Skills & Requirements
- BC Food Safe Level 1
- 2-3+ years culinary experience
- 1+ year supervisory experience
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while being detail & task orientated
- You don’t need to be a body builder, but you will need to be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

- Willingness to work weekends and the occasional evening
Working Conditions & Physical Environment
- Ability to lift 24 kg
- Ability to stand for 8 hours
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays
Compensation & Other Details
- Hours: Full-time, contract position
- Location: In-person at Monte Creek Winery
- Wage: $25- $30/hour, plus gratuities
