Flagger / Traffic Control Personnel
Grande Prairie Region – Road Construction Season 2026
Knelsen Sand & Gravel Ltd. is one of the largest construction companies in Northwestern Alberta. Through our commitment to excellence in product and service, we supply project management, gravel, asphalt paving, and ready-mix concrete to communities throughout Alberta. We are currently seeking 10 reliable, safety-focused Flaggers to join our Grande Prairie road construction crew for the upcoming season.
About the Role
As a Flagger / Traffic Control Personnel, your primary responsibility is keeping our crew and the public safe. You will direct and manage traffic through active construction and work zones, using approved signage, hand signals, and two-way radio communication. Sitting is not an option – this role requires you to be on your feet and alert throughout your shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and control traffic flow safely through construction zones using approved signage and hand signals
- Set up and take down traffic control devices, signs, and cones as required
- Maintain constant communication with crew members, supervisors, and other flaggers via two-way radio
- Monitor and respond to changing site conditions to keep crew and public safe at all times
- Follow all site-specific safety protocols and traffic control plans
- Maintain a visible, attentive presence on site – this is an active, standing role
- Immediately report any safety hazards, incidents, or near-misses to the supervisor
Requirements
- Must reside in the Grande Prairie area and be able to meet the crew on site
- Must have reliable personal transportation to get to and from the job site
- Willingness to travel out of town with the crew as project locations change throughout the season (crew trucks available)
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Pre-employment drug screening is required – this is a safety-sensitive position
- Ability to stand and remain alert for extended periods – sitting is not permitted during flagging duties
- Strong communication skills and the ability to stay calm and focused in a busy traffic environment
- Willingness to work flexible hours including early mornings and weekends
- Previous flagging or traffic control experience is an asset; training will be provided

Pay: $19.00-$20.00 per hour
