Position Overview
Halenda’s Fine Food is seeking a dependable, experienced, and customer-focused professional to join our team as a Deli Clerk. This role is suited for individuals who bring prior experience in food service, retail, or hospitality and who understand the importance of efficiency, presentation, and exceptional customer care. You will play a key role in front-line customer service and store operations, contributing to a smooth, high-quality customer experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service Excellence
- Provide courteous, professional, and efficient service to all customers
- Assist customers with product selection, inquiries, and recommendations
- Ensure a welcoming and positive in-store experience at all times
Merchandising & Store Presentation
- Ensure self-serve and display areas are properly stocked and well-presented
- Rotate and replenish products as required to maintain freshness and availability
- Package, label, and price prepared foods accurately and professionally
Cash Handling & Transactions
- Operate the cash register with accuracy and accountability
- Process transactions, handle payments, and maintain proper cash-handling procedures
Cleanliness, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment at all times
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace health & safety guidelines
- Support daily cleaning duties as required
Team Contribution & Efficiency
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations
- Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and strong work ethic
Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail, customer service, or food service is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality customer service in a professional setting
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
- Experience with cash handling and POS systems is an asset
- Knowledge of food safety practices is an advantage
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
- Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills
- Availability for full-time hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
