Heavy Machine Operator
Dean Group is currently recruiting for a Heavy Machine Operator on behalf of a well-established manufacturing client in Southwestern Ontario.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced machinist with strong CNC and manual machining experience to join a stable, team-oriented environment focused on precision manufacturing and quality workmanship.
Position Summary
The Heavy Machine Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating both CNC and manual machine tools to manufacture precision components to tight tolerances. The successful candidate will have experience with large machining equipment, interpreting blueprints and technical drawings, and performing programming adjustments as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, drawings, and shop documentation
- Set up and operate CNC and manual machining equipment
- Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, jigs, and machine attachments
- Perform machine setups including speeds, feeds, tooling, and offsets
- Load, edit, and adjust CNC programs to ensure efficient and accurate machining
- Operate manual machining equipment including horizontal and vertical boring mills, lathes, and milling machines
- Inspect parts using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, verniers, gauges, and scales
- Monitor machine condition and report maintenance concerns or deficiencies
- Maintain high quality standards and close tolerances throughout production
- Follow all health and safety procedures and safe work practices
- Assist with additional shop support duties as required
Qualifications
- Valid 429A-Machinist Certificate of Qualification (required)
- Certificate of Apprenticeship
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining and manual machining practices
- Experience operating horizontal and vertical boring mills
- Ability to read and edit CNC programs
- Proficient with precision measuring equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Strong mathematical skills including basic trigonometry and algebra
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
