About OPUS Consulting Group
OPUS Consulting Group is a proudly Canadian-owned managed IT and technology solutions provider that organizations across Metro Vancouver and western Canada trust to keep their technology reliable, secure, and ready for what's next. As a Microsoft Solutions Partner working with leading technologies from Dell, Sophos, Nutanix, Veeam, Datto, Ruckus, and Scale Computing, we design, implement, and support infrastructure and cloud solutions that let our clients focus on growing their business.
Our consultants are a select, knowledgeable group — most with 15+ years of hands-on experience across infrastructure design, security, cloud, and IT strategy. We're now looking to add another senior technologist to that team.
About the Role
This is a genuine “unicorn” role. We're looking for someone who is equally comfortable at the whiteboard with a client explaining the value of a solution and at the keyboard building it. You will design and implement technology solutions across the full infrastructure stack — networking, firewalls, servers, storage, data protection, and endpoint security — and clearly communicate to clients why those solutions matter to their business.
You'll also partner with our sales team to develop multi-year technology roadmaps for our managed services clients. That means walking into an existing environment, assessing where the challenges and deficiencies are, and building a practical 12-, 24-, and 36-month plan that keeps the organization current, secure, and aligned with its goals.
If you love the technical work but also enjoy being the trusted advisor a client turns to, this role is built for you.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement end-to-end infrastructure solutions: networking, firewalls, servers, storage, data protection/backup, and endpoint protection and security.
- Do the hands-on work — configure networks and firewalls, install and configure servers and operating systems, and stand-up data protection and security solutions.
- Guide clients on Microsoft 365 and Azure Cloud adoption, helping them understand the best path forward and get the most value from these platforms.
- Translate technical solutions into clear business value — explain to clients what a solution does, why it matters, and how it strengthens their organization.
- Assess existing client environments to identify risks, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with the sales team to build 12/24/36-month technology roadmaps for managed services clients, keeping their environments modern and well-protected.
- Collaborate with the sales team to define and scope out technology solutions for our clients.
- Serve as a senior technical point of escalation and mentor for the wider team.
What You Bring
- Extensive hands-on experience designing AND implementing infrastructure solutions across networking, firewalls, servers, storage, data protection, and endpoint security.
- The ability to actually build it — configuring networks and firewalls, installing servers, and setting up operating systems are second nature to you.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure, with experience guiding clients on adoption and best practices.
- Broad, current technology knowledge across the infrastructure and security landscape.
- Excellent communication skills — you can explain a value proposition to a non-technical client as confidently as you can talk shop with engineers.
- Experience assessing IT environments and developing strategic technology roadmaps.
- A consultative mindset: you listen first, then design solutions that fit the client's business and budget.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Cisco, Fortinet, Sophos, VMware, Nutanix, or similar) are a strong asset.
- A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to client sites in the region.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or IT consulting environment.
- Familiarity or certification with technologies from our partner ecosystem (Dell, Sophos, Nutanix, Veeam, Datto, Ruckus, Scale Computing).
- Experience creating and presenting proposals and roadmaps to business owners and executives.

- Join a small, senior, highly experienced team where your expertise is valued and your voice is heard.
- Competitive compensation, benefits, and support for ongoing certification and professional development.
- Be the trusted advisor clients rely on, backed by strong vendor partnerships and a respected local brand.
