Lead the electrical design of manufacturing equipment, including power distribution, motor controls, PLCs, HMI, sensors, and automation systems.
Prepare, review, and stamp detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
Ensure compliance with Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), CSA, UL, and other industry standards relevant to equipment manufacturing.
Collaborate with mechanical, controls, and production teams to develop integrated designs.
Oversee electrical component selection, vendor evaluation, and technical specifications for equipment builds.
Conduct electrical load calculations, safety analysis, and risk assessments.
Support equipment assembly, testing, and troubleshooting on the shop floor.
Provide technical mentorship to junior designers and technicians.
Review electrical bills of materials (BOM) and support procurement processes.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for product efficiency, reliability, and safety.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing.
Minimum 7 10 years of electrical design experience in an equipment manufacturing or industrial automation environment.
Strong knowledge of electrical codes, safety standards, and equipment certifications (CSA, UL, CE).
Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar design tools.
Experience with PLC/HMI programming and integration (Rockwell, Siemens, or equivalent).
Hands-on troubleshooting and commissioning experience in manufacturing environments.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
