Wanted: Apprentice CNC Operator / Future Maker of Awesome Things
Location: Nanaimo, BC
Position: Entry-Level CNC Machine Operator
Type: Full-Time
Experience Required: Absolutely none. (We’ll teach you everything).
The Gist
Let’s be honest: most job descriptions are a snooze-fest of corporate jargon, requiring "5 years of experience" just to sweep the floors. We aren't going to do that to you.
We are a tight-knit, fast-moving manufacturing crew that designs, machines, and tests high-performance gear right here in Nanaimo. Right now, we are looking for a reliable, hands-on apprentice to join our team.
Never touched a CNC machine before? No problem. If you love building things, have a knack for details, and want a practical, high-paying skill that will last you a lifetime, we want to train you.
Your Mission (We'll Teach You All of This):
- The Setup: Learning how to safely load raw metal into our vertical mills, set up tools, and hit "Cycle Start."
- The Quality Control: Training your eye to spot defects and learning how to use high-tech measuring tools (like micrometers and calipers) to make sure parts are perfect.
- The Shop Keep: Helping keep our workspace clean, organized, and running smoothly (which includes basic machine cleaning and clearing out aluminum chips).
- The Growth: As you get comfortable, you’ll learn the art of feeds, speeds, and how metal behaves under a cutting tool.
Who You Are (The Vital Ingredients)
- Curious & Eager to Learn: You ask questions when you aren't sure, and you actually want to understand how things work.
- Detail-Oriented: You’re the kind of person who notices when something is slightly out of alignment. You take pride in doing a job right the first time.
- Mechanically Minded: Maybe you like working on cars, building PCs, tinkering with wood, or fixing up bikes. If you enjoy working with your hands, you’ll love this.
- A Reliable Team Player: We operate with zero ego. We work hard, we look out for each other, and we need someone we can count on to show up ready to go.
Bonus Points If You:
- Have basic familiarity with workshop safety and hand tools.
- Love the outdoors, marine life, or rugged gear.
What’s In It For You?
- Earn While You Learn: Get paid a competitive starting wage to learn a highly valuable, hands-on trade.
- A Supportive Crew: We won't throw you to the wolves. You’ll be trained step-by-step by experienced people who want to see you succeed.
- Great Atmosphere: No corporate bureaucracy. You work directly with the owners in a clean, well-maintained shop.
- The Pride: There is nothing quite like holding a beautifully finished product in your hand and saying, "I helped make that."
How to Apply
Skip the generic cover letter. Send us your resume, but also include a quick note telling us about a hands-on project you’ve worked on that you’re proud of—whether it’s a car repair, a DIY wood project, or just fixing something that was broken.
Let's build something great together.
