Auto Mechanic Assistant / Shop Helper
Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Auto Mechanic Assistant / Shop Helper to join our automotive service team. This role provides essential support in vehicle maintenance and repair operations, helping ensure efficient shop workflow and excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in automotive repair, mechanical knowledge, and a willingness to learn and grow within the shop environment.
Duties
- Assist licensed mechanics with vehicle repairs, maintenance, and inspections
- Use hand tools and power tools to perform basic tasks such as tire changes, oil changes, and part replacements
- Support with vehicle diagnostics and troubleshooting under supervision
- Help with the organization and cleanliness of the shop area to maintain a safe working environment
- Perform heavy lifting of vehicle parts or equipment as needed
- Maintain inventory of tools and supplies, ensuring proper storage and usage
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with minor inquiries or directions when necessary
- Support sales team with vehicle preparation for test drives or customer presentations
Requirements
- Prior auto repair shop experience or mechanic experience is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is essential
- Mechanical knowledge related to automotive systems and repairs
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance procedures
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail and safety protocols
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude toward customer service
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards
