We are looking for a strong hospitality leader who can oversee the Rooms Division and support the continued success of the property through hands-on leadership, operational excellence, and a commitment to Marriott brand standards.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Director of Rooms Operations to lead the day-to-day operations of the hotel’s Front Office, Housekeeping, Guest Services, and Maintenance departments.
The Director of Rooms Operations will be responsible for ensuring smooth hotel operations, maintaining service excellence, supporting financial performance, and creating a positive and accountable team culture. This role requires a visible, hands-on leader who is comfortable working closely with department leaders and team members to ensure an exceptional guest experience at every touchpoint.
The ideal candidate has strong hotel operations experience, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of Front Office and Housekeeping operations. Marriott or comparable branded hotel experience is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all departments within the Rooms Division: Front Office, Housekeeping, Guest Services, and Maintenance.
- Maintain a highly visible, hands-on leadership presence in daily operations.
- Conduct weekly formal inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
- Ensure consistent execution of Marriott brand standards and service culture.
- Lead and support Marriott Bonvoy enrollment goals and guest loyalty initiatives.
- Drive cross-department collaboration with Food & Beverage and Sales Management.
- Participate in Executive Committee meetings and property-wide strategy discussions.
- Develop and manage annual operations budgets, including labor, expenses, and operational costs.
- Analyze daily and monthly P&L performance and implement corrective actions.
- Track key performance metrics, including Occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and CPOR.
- Review guest feedback (including Medallia) daily and take immediate corrective action.
- Oversee Front Desk, Night Audit, PBX, and Guest Services operations, ensuring smooth check-in/check-out experiences.
- Ensure strong coordination between Front Office and Housekeeping, including inventory and supply management.
- Partner with Engineering on preventive maintenance and capital improvement projects.
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and leadership development for department heads.
- Lead daily stand-ups and departmental briefings focused on accountability and service excellence.
- Actively participate in Revenue Management calls and support demand forecasting and pricing strategy.
- Oversee safety, security, and emergency response procedures, and support internal and external audits.
- Drive associate engagement, retention, and recognition programs across the Rooms Division.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years of hotel operations experience in limited or full-service hotels.
- 2-4+ years in senior leadership roles (Front Office Manager, Executive Housekeeper, or Rooms Division Manager).
- Experience with Marriott or a comparable branded hotel environment strongly preferred.
- Strong financial and labour control expertise, including P&L management, forecasting, and productivity analysis.
- Hands-on leadership style with a strong presence on the floor.
- Deep operational knowledge of Front Office and Housekeeping functions.
- Strong guest recovery and service excellence capability.
- Excellent communication skills and an executive-level leadership presence.
- Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure, high-occupancy environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
