We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Designer to join our Electrical team in Calgary.
Reporting to Erik Byrgesen, a highly people-oriented leader with a strong vision for excellence, this role offers the opportunity to take a leadership role in design production while mentoring junior team members within a collaborative, high-performance environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of electrical designs, specifications, and detailed drawings for building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security, and communications systems using Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM collaboration tools.
- Take ownership of design coordination and quality control across multiple projects.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, clients, and multidisciplinary consultants throughout all project phases.
- Support project delivery by contributing to scheduling, resource planning, and progress tracking.
- Ensure clear communication and coordination among all stakeholders and disciplines.
- Participate actively in construction administration, including site visits, surveys, and inspections.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers and drafters.
Essential Functions:
- Technical Leadership: Act as a senior resource for complex design challenges and oversee design quality.
- Effective Communication: Ensure seamless coordination between internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Service Excellence: Deliver high-quality design documentation aligned with project requirements and industry standards.
- Client Interaction: Maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and field personnel.
- Problem Solving: Independently resolve complex design issues and propose practical solutions.
- Client Engagement: Participate in client meetings, presentations, and site visits.
- Technological Expertise: Stay current with industry standards, codes, and emerging technologies.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Flexible Schedule: May require occasional after-hours work depending on project demands.
- Varied Locations: Primarily office-based with periodic travel to client sites and construction locations.
- Calgary-Centric: Most work will be within the Calgary region with occasional travel.
- Driver’s License: Valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle is an asset.
