Your Opportunity:
The Western Canadian Children's Heart Network (WCCHN) is an interprovincial program that brings together expertise from the five pediatric cardiac centers across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba to advance excellence in care for children living with congenital or acquired heart disease. Through clinical collaboration, quality improvement, health information management, research, education and system planning, WCCHN works to ensure children and families across Western Canada have equal access to highest standard of cardiac care. This is a unique opportunity for an action-oriented and relationship-focused leader to oversee the operations of a complex interprovincial network, support executive and clinical leadership, lead cross-jurisdictional initiatives, and drive meaningful improvements in pediatric cardiac care.
Description:
Reporting functionally to the Executive Director, Stollery Children's Hospital, the WCCHN Program Manager is a senior professional who serves as the operational leader of the Network and a trusted partner to its Integrated Advisory Board (IAB). The role centres on strong leadership, intergovernmental collaboration, cross-functional governance, and strategic influence to advance the Network's priorities, policy, practice, and funding. Taking direction from the IAB, the Program Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations including strategic planning, financial management, communications, human resourcing, quality improvement, health information management, and the administration of multiple clinical outcomes registries and collaborative programs. The Program Manager provides leadership to a geographically dispersed interdisciplinary team and coordinates the work of numerous committees, working groups, and external partners to advance the shared priorities of network stakeholders, and to improve outcomes for children and families. The Program Manager develops and maintains relationships across provincial ministries of health, health authorities, academic institutions and partner organizations to secure strategic alignment and advance interprovincial priorities. The position is responsible for monitoring organizational performance, presenting executive reports, preparing funding submissions, supporting governance activities, and ensuring accountability to funding partners and participating organizations. Success in this role requires exceptional leadership, political acumen, systems thinking, and the ability to influence (without direct authority) while balancing diverse stakeholder interests.
