Overview
This is a contract position for three months; however, it could be extended or lead to a permanent, full-time position.
- Reporting to the Finance Supervisor, the Finance Lead is responsible for the effective and efficient management of accounting and financial systems. This role also supports the Finance Supervisor with financial operations and membership administration.
- The Finance Lead must be able to work collaboratively with staff and managers at all levels.
Responsibilities
- Recommend and implement improvements to increase efficiency in the use of financial resources.
- Use accounting software and other technology to streamline processes such as cheque runs, invoicing, reporting, and preparing financial statements.
- Review and manage Accounts Receivable; process Accounts Payable in the absence of the Accounts Payable Coordinator.
- Perform complex bank and account reconciliations and prepare financial statements.
- Develop and maintain reporting systems for the Education Department and manage forecasting.
- Support accounting projections and assist with the annual budgeting process.
- Monitor budget vs. actual variances and advise managers accordingly.
- Assist in creating briefing notes for senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Support annual audit preparations, including compiling audit binders and assisting auditors during the process.
- Participate in other projects and perform additional duties as required.
Computer Skills
- Experience with Great Plains accounting software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with membership databases (e.g., iMIS, EMS, or equivalent)
- Experience with accounting system implementation
Professional Experience
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on accounting experience
Pay: $38.00-$45.00 per hour
