POSITION SUMMARY
Medicine Hat Public School Division is recruiting two Educational Assistants (EAs)
to serve as permanent members of the Complexity Team for Dr. Ken Sauer School.
The Complexity Team consists of one teacher and two EAs, working under the direction of school administration. The Complexity Team will support students, K-6, facing a range of challenges: academic, behavioural, social and emotional. This support will include helping students develop executive functioning skills, achieve academic goals, and progress with English language learning. The Complexity Team will support students with complex developmental needs, learning needs, and behavioural challenges. Complexity Teams are designed to strengthen and increase the supports that our school is able to offer to students through timely, targeted supports.
Positions are permanent full-time (30 hours per week).
Responsibilities

Provide flexible in-class and small-group supports to help students access learning.

Support implementation of individual support and behaviour plans.

Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher and learning team.

Support positive behaviour and regulation support practices.

Supervision duties (recess, classroom, lunch, etc.).

Building strong relationships with students.

Seeing the best in every student.

Demonstrate a strong belief in the value of an inclusive school setting.
- Work as part of a team, take direction, and follow programming design.
Qualifications and Attributes

Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent experience preferred.

Education or experience in child and youth care counselling, social work or experience
working in child and youth behaviour may be considered an asset. -
Experience working with students with diverse needs would be an asset.
- Preference will be given to applicants with an understanding of childhood development, the
escalation cycle, and executive functioning skills. -
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and motivated to help all students succeed.

Experience working with students in school setting is important.

Strong communication and collaboration skills are crucial.
