We're growing our team and looking for a detail-oriented Civil Engineering Technologist to support our project delivery process from design through construction — and to help manage projects from kickoff to close-out.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Civil Engineering Technologist to provide technical support and hands-on project management for our projects. This role blends drafting and technical analysis with day-to-day project coordination — managing schedules, budgets, client communication, and deliverables — while working closely with our survey crews, engineers, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare civil engineering drawings, plans, and profiles using CAD software (AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar)
- Assist with site grading, drainage, and utility surveys
- Review survey data
- Coordinate with field survey crews to ensure design accuracy and constructability
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and permit application materials
- Support project managers with scheduling, documentation, and client deliverables
- Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and municipal requirements
- Conduct site visits as needed to verify existing conditions and construction progress
Project Management
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and scope for assigned civil/land development projects
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and municipal reviewers
- Track project milestones, deliverables, and permit/approval timelines; flag risks early
- Coordinate internal resources (survey crews, drafters, engineers) to keep projects on track
- Prepare and manage project proposals, invoicing support, and change orders
- Lead or support project status meetings and provide regular progress updates to clients and leadership
- Maintain organized project files, correspondence, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technician program, or related field, OR a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- 2+ years of experience in a civil engineering, surveying, or land development environment (new grads with strong internship/co-op experience welcome to apply)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D; familiarity with GIS software is an asset
- Solid understanding of surveying principles, site grading, and drainage design
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to read and interpret survey plans, legal descriptions, and construction drawings
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with field and office teams
- Valid driver's license required
- Experience managing project timelines, budgets, and client relationships, ideally in surveying, civil engineering, or land development
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Assets
- Experience working alongside licensed land surveyors, architects, or engineers
- Knowledge of local municipal approval processes and permitting
- Certification or progress toward CET/CTech designation
- PMP or other project management training/certification
- Familiarity with project management or scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Procore)
