Global Auto Body Supplies is one of Western Canada's fastest-growing automotive refinish and industrial supply distributors. With six locations and continued expansion plans, we are looking for a highly organized, analytical, and motivated Purchaser / Inventory Control Manager to lead our purchasing operations and inventory management.
This is a key leadership position responsible for ensuring our stores have the right products, at the right time, at the best possible cost.
Responsibilities
As our Purchaser, you will be responsible for:
- Negotiating pricing, rebates, freight programs, payment terms, and vendor agreements.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers.
- Managing purchasing for all six company locations.
- Monitoring inventory levels to ensure products are available while minimizing excess stock.
- Preventing overstock and slow-moving inventory across all branches.
- Coordinating inventory transfers between stores to maximize existing inventory before purchasing new stock.
- Ensuring special orders are placed promptly and tracked through to customer delivery.
- Monitoring purchasing trends and forecasting inventory requirements based on sales history and seasonal demand.
- Reviewing vendor performance, lead times, fill rates, and product availability.
- Identifying opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
- Working closely with store managers, sales staff, and management to ensure inventory supports customer demand.
- Managing backorders and communicating expected arrival times.
- Creating and maintaining purchasing reports, inventory analysis, and KPI tracking.
- Maintaining accurate product information, vendor pricing, and purchasing records.
- Participating in new product sourcing and vendor evaluations.
- Assisting with inventory counts, cycle counts, and inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Developing purchasing procedures and continuously improving inventory processes.
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who has:
- 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or inventory management experience.
- Strong negotiation skills and confidence working with suppliers.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with ERP or inventory management software (Lightspeed experience is an asset).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel or spreadsheet skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- The ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience in automotive, industrial, wholesale distribution, or supply chain management is considered a strong asset.
