We are seeking a 3rd Engineer (Shipboard) to join our dynamic team in. This role is vital in ensuring the proper operation and maintenance of marine cable systems, supporting our mission to provide top-tier subsea communication infrastructure.
Responsibilities
The Third Engineer (3/E) is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of machinery, specialized cable and operational equipment and equipment in the Engine Department, in particular for:
- Keeping engineering watches according to regulations, company rules and guidelines
- Monitoring maintenance and routine engine room operations
- Advising the Chief Engineer about spare part requirements
- Assisting with Spare Part Control systems and assisting with keeping them up to date
- Monitoring of machinery to ensure efficient operation, to minimize fuel and oil consumption and to ensure maximum availability of machinery at all times
- Ensuring that other departments are kept fully informed of any engine room activities which may affect them
- Understanding and implementing the Safety Management System within the Engine Department
- Monitoring Fitters and motormen
- Reporting defects or irregularities to the Chief Engineer immediately
- Ensuring efficient and economic usage of spare gear
- Keeping planned maintenance records up to date
- Implementing HSE policies at the individual level
Qualifications
- As a minimum, as per STCW95 Regulation III/I
- Safety Management System Induction Course
- ShipSure/VL1 (reccommended)
- Environmental Awareness Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan Experience
- At least 2 years experience in rank and on similar type of vessel
- Spoken English language at least Lower Intermediate level with at least 70% Marlins test
- All neccessary certificates in hand
- Ability to work with different nations and respectful of different cultures
- Ability to solve problems based on experience and education Reports to: Chief Engineer
