We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Campaigns team, which builds the infrastructure that lets marketers create, schedule, and deliver messages across multiple channels on our platform. Join us to make your mark on a fast-growing team, take ownership of innovative projects, and work closely with cross-functional partners to build a product that marketing teams rely on daily.
This is a hands-on role where you will contribute to the architecture and implementation of critical platform capabilities. You'll design robust systems, write high-quality code, and ensure our services are scalable, reliable, and maintainable. The systems you help build power core campaign capabilities like audience targeting, multi-channel content assembly, and reliable scheduling for one-time, recurring, or triggered campaigns.
You will report to the Engineering Manager in this role.
What You'll Do:
- Design and Build Campaign Workflows: Design and implement the core systems that let marketers create, configure, and schedule campaigns across multiple channels (email, SMS, push, etc.).
- Own Campaign Authoring & Content Assembly: Build the systems that turn authored creatives, templates, and targeting rules into a finalized, ready-to-send campaign — resolving content variants and audience eligibility ahead of delivery.
- Ensure Reliable Handoff to Delivery: Own the layer that prepares and monitors campaigns as they move to delivery, with visibility and alerting to catch failures or delays before they impact customers.
- Enable Audience Targeting & Personalization: Collaborate with Product and other engineering teams to integrate audience segmentation and personalization signals into campaign targeting, so the right content reaches the right recipient.
- Build for Extensibility: Develop flexible, configurable systems that allow new campaign types, channels, and scheduling rules to be added with minimal engineering overhead.
- Drive Operational Excellence: Maintain high system reliability through observability, metrics, alerting, and shared on-call responsibilities, ensuring campaigns are delivered accurately and on time.
- Own Feature Delivery End-to-End: Take ownership of complex backend features from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Champion Engineering Best Practices: Advocate for strong code quality, testing, and system health, and mentor junior engineers to raise the team's overall technical bar.
What You Bring:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Experience building and maintaining large distributed systems at scale that are fault tolerant and highly concurrent
- Exemplary software engineering skills (design, unit testing, git, code review, CI/CD)
- Strong foundation in modern backend development (e.g. Python, Ruby, etc. - we mostly use Python alongside other languages and frameworks)
- Strong experience with relational databases, schema design, and query optimization (we use PostgreSQL)
- An understanding of common web based API architectures (RESTful, GraphQL) and technologies (gRPC)
- Experience with a cloud provider e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP (we use Google Cloud Platform)
- Experience with modern distributed and microservice technologies (we use Kubernetes, Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Familiar with Software Development Lifecycle practices, such as continuous integration/continuous delivery and automated deployment (we use tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, etc.)
- Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to collaborate with others, communicate effectively, advocate appropriately and mentor more junior engineers to improve team efficiency
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, including the ability to efficiently identify, analyze, and resolve complex issues, and communicate to others on the team how to contribute to the solutions for these issues
- A willingness and eagerness to continuously learn, adapt to evolving technologies, and strive for personal and professional improvement.
