We are assisting our client, a Canadian co-manufacturing company in the bakery and snacks category, hire for a Inventory Control Manager. The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for overseeing all ingredient, packaging, and finished goods inventory across our manufacturing plant, onsite warehouse, and third-party logistics (3PL) offsite facilities. This role is tasked with maintaining balanced inventory records, conducting deep-dive data analysis, and implementing industry best practices to minimize material waste, eliminate shrinkage, and prevent inaccurate reporting.
This position directly manages an inventory control team consisting of one Coordinator and two hourly associates.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Inventory Management & Optimization
- Support comprehensive inventory control and supply chain functions across all production and storage facilities.
- Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Warehousing teams to analyze workflows and optimize procedures for cost reduction, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate, execute, and reconcile routine cycle counts and year-end inventory counts across multiple warehouses, including in-transit stock.
- Develop actionable plans to optimize inventory stock requirements and establish precise min/max levels and accurate costing for all tracked items.
- Strictly enforce FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and FEFO (First-Expired, First-Out) standards for all raw ingredients and finished goods.
Training, Compliance & Risk Mitigation
- Conduct regular training for warehouse associates, including drivers, inventory clerks, and specialized staff.
- Enforce strict compliance with all corporate inventory management policies and procedures.
- Identify the root causes of inventory variances immediately and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Design and execute operational initiatives to reduce material waste from damage and eliminate inventory shrinkage or theft.
Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Run, analyze, and reconcile inventory valuation reports to ensure physical counts perfectly align with the corporate ERP system.
- Monitor stock levels continuously to examine and adjust variances before they impact the bottom line.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3–5 years of inventory management experience in food manufacturing, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or a highly regulated production environment.
- Leadership: Proven track record of supervising direct reports and training warehouse staff.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency with ERP systems, inventory databases, and running complex valuation reports.
- Logistics: Experience managing inventory across decentralized networks, including 3PL facilities.
