Position Overview
3 Summit Investigations Ltd. is seeking a reliable, professional and qualified Private Investigator to join our team on an ongoing contract basis.
The successful contractor will assist with a variety of investigative assignments throughout Alberta. Work may include surveillance, background research, locating individuals, interviewing witnesses, obtaining statements and preparing detailed investigative reports.
Assignments will be offered based on client needs and contractor availability. This position is well suited to a licensed investigator who is comfortable working independently, managing changing priorities and maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Conduct mobile and stationary surveillance
- Perform background, social media and open-source research
- Assist with skip tracing and locating individuals
- Conduct interviews and obtain written or recorded statements
- Document observations accurately and objectively
- Prepare clear, detailed and professional investigative reports
- Capture appropriate photographic and video evidence
- Maintain organized case notes, time records and expense documentation
- Communicate promptly with the assigned case manager
- Preserve confidentiality and protect sensitive client information
- Follow all applicable legislation, licensing requirements and company procedures
- Travel throughout Alberta as required
- Attend court or provide testimony regarding investigative findings when necessary
Required Qualifications
- Current and valid Alberta Investigator Licence
- Previous investigative, surveillance, law-enforcement, military, insurance, security or related professional experience
- Strong observational and analytical skills
- Excellent written communication and report-writing abilities
- Ability to remain patient, alert and discreet during extended surveillance assignments
- Strong judgment and the ability to work independently
- Professional, ethical and dependable
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Valid driver’s licence and acceptable driving record
- Reliable, insured and well-maintained vehicle suitable for investigative work
- Reliable smartphone, computer and internet access
- Ability to travel throughout Alberta
- Availability for irregular hours, including early mornings, evenings, nights and weekends
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience conducting mobile surveillance
- Experience with domestic, civil, insurance, corporate or workplace investigations
- Experience preparing reports for legal proceedings
- Experience locating individuals or conducting detailed online research
- Familiarity with Southern Alberta communities and roadways
- Experience capturing clear photographic or video evidence
- Additional security, investigative or interviewing training
Contract Details
- Ongoing independent contractor opportunity
- Assignments offered according to operational requirements and contractor availability
- Hours will vary, and no minimum number of hours is guaranteed
- Contract rate will be determined based on experience and qualifications
- Approved case-related mileage and expenses will be addressed according to the contractor agreement
- Contractors are responsible for submitting accurate invoices, time records and supporting documentation
- Contractors must maintain all required licences, vehicle insurance and business-related coverage
