Objective of this Role
Northern Law LLP has an exciting opportunity for a motivated lawyer with one to three years of experience to fulfill a full-time role in a fast-paced office setting. The best fit for this permanent position is a results-oriented professional with an entrepreneurial spirit and a focus on civil litigation.

Responsibilities
· Be involved in all aspects of civil litigation including drafting legal documents, including, but not limited to applications, briefs, pleadings, motions, affidavits, and discoveries.
· Strategically counsel clients and potential clients on legal matters.
· Identify legal or contractual issues and develop new approaches to resolve complex issues.
· Argue motions and attend other pre-trial court appearances before a judge. Attend tribunal, court, or other adjudicated hearings.
· Negotiate settlements of civil disputes.
· Gather evidence to formulate defense or to initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain the facts of a case.
· Keep cases organized by meeting deadlines, documenting actions, and inputting information into a file database.
· Prepare bills and correspondence.
· Docket time daily.
Requirements
· Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with exceptional academic credentials from an accredited law school
· Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
· Positive attitude and high level of professionalism
· Ability to maintain confidentiality, and exercise discretion and good judgment.
· One to three years of experience is preferred, but we will consider all qualified candidates.
