We are seeking a motivated and dedicated associate lawyer.
The successful candidate will work in the areas of Family and Child Protection Law, and will be trained if necessary. The candidate will be encouraged to interact directly with clients and the Court on a daily basis.
Responsibilities:
1. Case Management: manage and organize case files, including maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, documents, and client notes, and other file management processes.
2. Client Interactions: Interact professionally and effectively with clients and witnesses.
3. Court attendance: Present in Court, frame a case, and conduct court appearances in the Provincial and Supreme Court.
4. Document Preparation: Prepare and draft legal documents, such as separation agreements, parenting plans, applications, and court orders.
5. Court Filings: Prepare, review, and file court documents.
6. Trial Preparation: Prepare and conduct trial, complete trial preparation, including witness preparation, and trial documents.
Requirements:
1. A law degree and membership to the Law Society of British Columbia or a reciprocating jurisdiction in Canada.
2. Willingness and ability to attend in person meetings and Court appearances in Kelowna, Vernon, Penticton, BC and surrounding areas when required.
3. Strong ethics, and a willingness to work on all tasks that are required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00-$115,000.00 per year
