Our client, a company supporting remote camp construction and site services in Northern Ontario, is seeking experienced Health and Safety Coordinators to support a camp installation project near Chapleau, ON.
Working in a remote construction environment, the Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for supporting and managing the site HSE program, promoting safe work practices, and representing the company’s health and safety standards on site. This role will work closely with site leadership, field crews, and subcontractors to ensure work is completed safely and in compliance with applicable legislation, site requirements, and company policies.
This is a contract opportunity expected to run through approximately early 2027, depending on construction schedules. The client is looking to hire with flexibility for either a 7/7 or 14/14 schedule.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Support and manage the site Health, Safety, and Environment program.
· Promote safe work practices across site activities.
· Represent the company’s HSE standards and expectations on site.
· Work closely with site leadership, field crews, and subcontractors.
· Monitor work activities to ensure compliance with safety legislation, company policies, and site requirements.
· Conduct workplace inspections, observations, and audits as required.
· Support hazard identification, risk assessment, and corrective action follow-up.
· Assist with incident reporting, investigation, and documentation.
· Participate in site safety meetings and provide updates on safety performance, concerns, and incidents.
· Support subcontractor safety compliance.
· Maintain safety records, documentation, and training/certification information as required.
· Provide guidance and support to supervisors and workers on health and safety matters.
· Perform other related duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS
· National Construction Safety Officer designation is required.
· Previous experience in a Health and Safety Coordinator, HSE Coordinator, or similar site safety role.
· Experience in construction, mining, industrial, camp installation, or remote project environments is preferred.
· Strong working knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation and site safety practices.
· Experience working with subcontractors and field crews.
· Ability to conduct inspections, audits, observations, and incident follow-up.
· Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
· Comfortable working in a remote site environment on a rotational schedule.
· Ability to work independently and represent the company professionally on site.
