This is a full-time position for a licensed and experienced Registered Veterinary Technician.
Qualifications and Attributes:
● Registered Veterinary Technician preferred
● Degree or diploma in Veterinary Technology or a related field
● Prior experience is highly desirable
● Strong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, procedures, and protocols
● Proficient in handling medical equipment, assisting in surgical procedures, administering
medications, and treatments
● Strong technical skills
● Good clinical judgement
● Committed to continuous learning and staying updated on advancements in veterinary
medicine
● Thrives in a collaborative environment
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills in person, by telephone, text and email
● A compassionate nature with the ability to empathize and interact effectively with
clients and their pets
● Prior certification or experience in Fear Free handling is a plus
Responsibilities and Technical Applications:
● Directly assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other procedures
● Start appointments and take thorough patient history
● Learn and effectively use veterinary software to schedule appointments, manage
patient records, and communicate within the team and with clients
● Administer vaccinations, medications, and treatments as directed by veterinarians
● Conduct procedures including venipuncture, IV catheterization, intubation
● Monitor patients under sedation and anesthetic, provide post-operative care, and
monitor recovery of surgical patients
● Perform dental radiographs
● Accurately conduct diagnostic tests including microscopy, urinalysis, and radiographs
● Maintenance and use of in-house IDEXX diagnostic analyzers
● Comfortable with doing intakes and discharges of surgical patients
● Educate and provide guidance to pet owners regarding animal care, treatment plans,
and preventive measures
● Prepare and sterilize surgical equipment and maintain cleanliness in the veterinary clinic
● Assist in handling animals safely and compassionately utilizing Fear Free methods
Compensation and Benefits:
● Competitive compensation starting at $26 per hour
● Full time schedule to be determined collaboratively - no on call, overnight or weekend
