Trades College: CAMPUS ADMINISTRATOR
Kensington Trades College, Mississauga Campus, is looking for a CAMPUS ADMINISTRATOR. This is a full time, entry-level position, ~40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday.
Job Summary
A Campus Administrator is responsible for the daily operational, academic, and non-academic functions of our college. They coordinate among students, admissions, and instructors to ensure the college runs efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities, reflective but not all inclusive
- Academics: Assisting in preparing for classes, entering grades, creating transcripts, diplomas and certificates, and coordinating course schedules.
- Student Inquiries: Answering phone and walk-in inquiries, entering student information in our computer database, transferring to admissions or instructors to answer questions, notifying students of schedule updates, counter registrations.
- Student Services: Coordinating with trades coordinator and admissions, taking financial payments from students, following up on absences.
- Campus Appearance: Ensuring the campus is clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Compliance and Records: Maintaining and filing official academic records (like transcripts), supporting college ministry and safety compliance, and enforcing college policies.
- Reporting and Meetings: Reporting to and/or attending meetings with campus manager, company directors, and/or trades program coordinator.
We are looking for administrators who display:
- Computer Skills: Word, Excel, Google Workspace, Outlook, some experience with databases to enter student inquiries into CRM and/or spreadsheets
- Typing Skills: 40wpm or higher
- Communication Skills: both verbal and written, to correspond with students, instructors, managers, and corporate inquiries
- Punctuality and Trustworthiness: to open the campus on time, accept and track fee payments
- Positive and Productive Attitude: enthusiasm and passion for assisting students, professional conduct
- Cultural Awareness: patience, flexibility, and to work with new learners
- Conflict Resolution: ability to avoid and resolve student complaints with a positive attitude
- Confidentiality: maintain student privacy and information
- Maturity: work autonomously without a lot of supervision
- Experience with tools or in trades is preferable but not required.
Working at the front desk, the campus administrator is the first person visitors see and speak to. You are an ambassador for the trades school who can discuss our programs and workshops and provide general information about funding opportunities and careers in trades. The campus administrator creates a positive and welcoming atmosphere at the campus through answering phones and greeting visitors.
Education
High School Diploma or GED
Experience
We are willing to train you, even if you have never been a Campus Administrator before, as this is an entry level role. You do not need to have existing knowledge about trades, just a desire to learn, and we can teach you the rest. Of course, we also would welcome anyone with experience in tools, renovation, or trades, but it’s not required for this entry level administrative role.
Compliance and Regulatory
Learn about and comply with all regulatory standards as set out in the OCC Act and the Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security. Follow company policies and procedures.
Working Conditions
This is a front office role, which also goes into the tool and building areas, where you must have an attention to safety. This role is on campus (not remote). Expect noise and dust from the trade school.
Compensation
Generally minimum wage to start, $18 per hour, also may be determined based on previous experience. There is a base pay, no commission, paid monthly. Opportunity for increases or advancement are based on attitude, performance, and results.
