MacCosham has been providing rail yard terminal services for over 50 years and is experienced in the management of a variety of yard configurations. In addition to our rail intermodal terminal services, including lift-on/lift-off of containers and hostler services, we also operate several container and chassis repair depots associated with rail yard terminal services, with a full range of mechanical, welding, and associated repair services.
MacCosham Inc. is looking for a full time, permanent Groundsperson/Labourer to join our growing team in Edmonton AB.
Role Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-trips on heated and refrigerated containers. Following instructions communicated by our customer. Accurately reporting fuel and temperature readings.
- Perform inventory checks in specialized software (Oasis)
- Complete and document pre-trip analysis of yard equipment using tablets
- Inspect all equipment interchanged by rail at Terminal for damages/defects
- Carefully placing and removing IBCs (inter box connectors) from containers on railcar, unlocking/locking containers
- Driving service vehicles in tight areas
- Performing physical duties relevant to job requirements (standing/bending/lifting/climbing on railcars)
- Ability to understand and follow all safety procedures and regulations
- Carry out all reasonable additional tasks as required
Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License
- Must be able to work on a rotating 2-week, 12-hour shift schedule, night shift 6pm-6am
- Comfortable working outdoors in all elements
- Able to communicate clearly, in English, over the radio
- Must have steel toe boots with a minimum 6" rise
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Must have basic computer skills and be comfortable working with iPads
- Capable of working under minimal supervision
- Must demonstrate safe and efficient workplace practices
- Must be able to work within a team environment to meet tight deadlines
- Highly motivated team player, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions
- Strong attention to detail
- Capable of meeting the physical demands of the environment (i.e Lifting up to 75 pounds)
- Must be able to pass a company paid pre-employment screening test and background check as this is a safety sensitive position
