Our client is embarking on a strategic data modernization initiative and is seeking a senior Microsoft Fabric consultant to help establish a modern enterprise data platform. This is a greenfield opportunity to design and implement the foundation that will centralize data from numerous internal and external sources, creating a scalable, reliable source of truth for the organization.
Working closely with technical and business stakeholders, you will lead the discovery, architecture, and implementation of a Microsoft Fabric solution capable of ingesting, transforming, and organizing large volumes of structured and semi-structured data.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead the design and implementation of a Microsoft Fabric data platform.
Conduct discovery sessions with internal stakeholders to understand current data sources, architecture, and future reporting requirements.
Design scalable ingestion pipelines for data from approximately 30 external partners and internal systems.
Build processes to ingest, validate, and transform large XML datasets into structured, analytics-ready formats.
Develop robust ETL/ELT pipelines using Microsoft Fabric Data Factory, Lakehouse, and related Fabric services.
Design and implement a modern data model that consolidates information from multiple systems into a single source of truth.
Integrate data from SQL Server-based data warehouses, third-party vendors, and additional external data sources.
Create reliable processes for handling inconsistent or imperfect source data while maintaining data quality and integrity.
Collaborate with business and technical teams to support future reporting, commission, and analytics initiatives.
Provide recommendations on Microsoft Fabric architecture, governance, security, and best practices.
Required Experience
Extensive experience implementing Microsoft Fabric in enterprise environments.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse, Data Factory, OneLake, notebooks, pipelines, and semantic models.
Experience designing modern cloud-based data platforms and enterprise data warehouses.
Strong ETL/ELT development experience moving data from multiple heterogeneous sources.
Experience ingesting and transforming large XML datasets into relational or analytical models.
Advanced SQL skills and experience working with SQL Server.
Experience designing scalable data models and establishing a single source of truth across multiple business systems.
Strong understanding of data architecture, data governance, and integration best practices.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead technical discovery sessions and advise stakeholders.
Nice to Have
Experience within financial services, insurance, or wealth management.
Experience integrating data from third-party APIs, legacy systems, or vendor file exchanges.
Knowledge of Canadian insurance industry data standards or ACORD/CLHIA standards.
Experience handling high-volume file processing and semi-structured data.
Familiarity with Microsoft Azure data services.
