Overview
The Client's team is seeking Contract Field Process Operators to join the Production Team at the Scotford Upgrader. In this role, you will be part of the Operations team responsible for the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of site assets, as well as supporting major Turnaround (TA) events scheduled for Spring and Fall 2027.

The Complex, located near Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, includes a bitumen upgrader, oil refinery, chemicals plant, and a carbon capture and storage (CCS) facility.
What You'll Be Doing
Contract Field Operators will be hired in four staggered start groups.
Group 1 – 16 Contractors
Contract Start: October 5, 2026 (orientation)
Contract End: June 7, 2027 (subject to change based on site requirements)
Responsibilities:
- Complete training and post-qualification requirements within assigned timelines.
- Work a 5-5-4 rotating shift schedule (days and nights) as a qualified field operator.
- Opportunity to be selected for Turnaround (TA) positions.
- Work additional hours as needed; all hours outside the base schedule compensated at the contracted rate.
- Support shutdown, decontamination, commissioning, and startup activities as a post-qualified operator (subject to site requirements).
Group 2 – 11 Contractors
Contract Start: October 19, 2026 (orientation)
Contract End: June 7, 2027 (subject to change based on site requirements)
Responsibilities:
- Complete training and post-qualification requirements within assigned timelines.
- Work a 5-5-4 rotating shift schedule (days and nights) as a qualified field operator.
- Opportunity to be selected for Turnaround (TA) positions.
- Work additional hours as needed; all hours outside the base schedule compensated at the contracted rate.
- Support shutdown, decontamination, commissioning, and startup activities as a post-qualified operator (subject to site requirements).
Potential Contract Extension – Refinery TA
Contractors may have an opportunity to continue employment to support the Refinery TA, contingent on:
- Refinery business need
- Overall evaluated performance during the Upgrader North Turnaround
What You Bring
- Minimum 4th Class ABSA-certified Power Engineer.
- Experience working in a process operations environment.
- Personal fire-retardant clothing and CSA-approved 6-inch safety boots.
- All other required PPE will be provided after orientation (hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, etc.).
- Current Fall Protection and Confined Space certifications through Energy Safety Canada or the Alberta Construction Training Institute before reporting to site for orientation.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces.
- Ability to safely wear a respirator or SCBA.
- Commitment to maintaining a drug-free, harassment-free, and safety-focused workplace.
- Willingness to work overtime, including during Turnarounds.
- Ability to work rotating shifts (nights, weekends, and holidays).
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must live within commuting distance or be willing to relocate at your own expense.
- Work schedule varies by role and Turnaround phase.

Pay: $49.50-$66.50 per hour
