We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Field Technician to join our dynamic team.
Job Summary: The Field Technician is a boots-on-the-ground role focused on installing and servicing equipment at customer sites. You’ll be working with ladders, power tools, mounts, cable, and terminations - installing phones, network equipment, voice/data wiring, and security/CCTV gear. If you like clean installs, problem-solving in the field, and talking to customers, you’ll fit right in.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installations: Install phones, network gear (switches, access points), cameras, and related hardware—mounting equipment neatly and securely.
- Run & terminate cabling: Pull, route, label, and terminate CAT6 and other low-voltage wiring (jacks, patch panels, keystones).
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Track down issues like bad terminations, cable damage, weak signal, hardware faults, or “it got unplugged” situations. Work with our internal Help Desk to diagnose and resolve technical issues with IT, phone systems, and office equipment. Perform repairs and maintenance as needed.
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular preventive maintenance to ensure the longevity and reliability of equipment. Keep detailed records of maintenance activities.
- Customer Support: Provide exceptional on-site support to clients, addressing their technical concerns and inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Training and Guidance: Offer training and guidance to clients on the proper use and maintenance of their office equipment and phone systems.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of service visits, including the nature of the issue, steps taken to resolve it, and any parts replaced.
- Tools & Inventory: Keep your tools, parts, and vehicle organized so you’re always ready for the next job.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the sales and support teams to provide comprehensive solutions to clients. Assist in the evaluation and recommendation of new equipment and technologies.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical certification or associate degree in IT, electronics, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 2+ years in installation, low-voltage, structured cabling, telecom, security/CCTV, or similar field work is ideal.
- Comfort with tools + heights: You’re good with ladders, drills/drivers, mounts, anchors, and working overhead.
- Cabling knowledge: Familiar with pulling cable and doing clean terminations (jacks, patch panels).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in problem solving, repairing a wide range of office equipment, phone systems, and IT systems. Strong understanding of networking principles and basic IT infrastructure.
- Customer Service: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to think critically and solve complex technical issues efficiently.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Comfortable working in various environments, including office settings, client locations and new construction.
- Driving License: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Willingness to travel within the service area as required.
