Position Summary:
Assists the Standardized Patient Educator and the Director of the Lab and simulation in planning simulation activities.
Primary Responsibilities:
Organizes schedules/and coordinates all sessions that require standardized patients and reviews schedules with faculty in collaboration with the Standardized Patient Educator.
Provides liaison between faculty and Standardized Patients (SPs) during work sessions.
Attends briefings with SP’s, faculty members and evaluators prior to programs.
Organizes and implements dry runs and rehearsals with the standardized patients and the faculty prior to the session.
Assist with application of moulage, make-up and props according to the learning activity.
Implements the administrative procedures related to all activities involving SPs.
Develops and gives presentations for standardized patients orientation and information sessions in collaboration with the Standardized Patient Educator.
Trains the standardized patients and provides feedback on their performance in collaboration with the Standardized Patient Educator.
In Collaboration with the Director of lab and simulation, develops and runs training sessions for standardized patients on Giving Effective Feedback to learners from a patients’ perspective.
Assists the Standardized Patient Educator in overseeing the standardized patient scenario database and makes changes and provides suggestions/corrections after consultation with faculty.
Compiles and maintains the standardized patient database
Assists the Standardized Patient Educator in overseeing the standardized patient program evaluation process and suggests changes required to improve the program.
Promotes and advertises the standardized patient program in the community.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

DEC in dramatic/performing arts; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Background in dramatic/performing arts, with experience in health care and education.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to work with a variety of people, teach, instruct and give constructive feedback.
- Proven discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.
- Organizational skills, initiative and flexibility required to manage a multifaceted position. Ability to work with Word, Excel and database software.
- English and French, spoken and written.
