OVERVIEW
Connect Society’s Early Childhood Services Program requires a part-time ASL Specialist to plan, support and implement the American Sign Language program of Early Childhood Services. The children enrolled in the program are Deaf, Hard of Hearing or hearing children of Deaf or Hard of Hearing parents. The program focuses on child development with an emphasis on language acquisition using a bilingual approach – English and American Sign Language. Programming is play-based and family-focused, requiring a high level of team work within an interdisciplinary team.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Background or training in American Sign Language assessment
- Native ASL user
- Related course work/experience in child development, teaching, special needs, Deafness;
- Current CPR and First Aid; and
- Clear Criminal Record and Intervention Checks.
HOURS
20 hours per week Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
COMPENSATION
- $24.00 – $30.00 per hour, based on education and experience;
