Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Parts Counter Person to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting customers with parts inquiries, managing inventory, and providing exceptional customer service. This role requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and a solid understanding of automotive parts and truck and trailer parts. Prior parts experience and familiarity with POS systems are highly desirable to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers in identifying and selecting the correct automotive parts through knowledgeable guidance.
- Manage and maintain accurate inventory records using an inventory management systems.
- Process sales transactions efficiently using POS systems, including cash handling and payment processing.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, offering technical advice, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.
- Collaborate with the sales team to promote parts sales and support marketing initiatives.
- Maintain organized shelving, stock levels, and ensure proper storage of parts.
- Handle order fulfillment accurately and promptly to meet customer needs.
- Communicate effectively with customers and team members via phone, email, or in person, demonstrating professional phone etiquette.
- Support maintenance tasks related to the parts department as needed, including cleaning and organizing work areas.
- Assist in sales management efforts by participating in promotional activities and tracking sales performance.
Requirements
- Previous parts sales experience is preferred; familiarity with automotive/truck/trailer repair is a plus.
- Experience with POS systems, retail sales, cashiering, and order fulfillment is highly desirable.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills are advantageous for serving diverse customer bases.
- Strong communication skills, negotiation abilities, and excellent customer service orientation are essential.
- Good math skills for handling transactions accurately and managing stock levels.
- Organizational skills to maintain an orderly parts department environment.
- Knowledge of similar inventory management software is beneficial.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment while demonstrating professionalism and attention to detail.
