An exciting opportunity to join our team in Cardiac Sciences to support patients who require cardiac implantable electronic devices. Under the direction of the unit manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiac Implantable Electronic Device (CIED) Clinic is responsible for collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of health care providers, which includes physicians, cardiologists and other members of the health care team. The RN will support the CIED Clinic by completing patient assessments, patient follow ups, referral management, triaging, booking procedures, supporting MRIs, provide education to patient and families, and support procedures in the Operating Room. This is a multisite position, with satellite locations at PLC, RGH, SHC, and ACH, and is based out of FMC. The RN will provide leadership and direction to other departments regarding the management and care of the CIED patient, supports education for patients and family members and serves as a resource for other caregivers to these patients. Due to the nature of the clinic, the role of this individual involves advanced assessment and triage skills, as well as advanced technical skills. The position requires a highly motivated and flexible individual who is innovative and creative and can work collaboratively. Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years recent (within seven years) experience in Acute Care Cardiology. Strong knowledge and skills with 12 Lead ECG interpretation. Current ACLS certification. This RN position includes the following physical requirements: being on one's feet for extended periods of time (including walking/standing and wearing lead aprons), exposure to infectious diseases, and hazardous situations for which they are trained; be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning of patients; be able to bend, lift, push, and pull equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a Cardiac Device Clinic environment. Experience in Charge, Clinician or Triage RN role with advanced decision-making skills. Experience with Connect Care in an Ambulatory Outpatient and Invasive Procedure setting. BCIT Cardiac Device Course. CNA Cardiology Certification is considered an asset. Certified Cardiac Device Specialist certification is an asset. Excellent communication, teaching and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated commitment to professional development.
