Position Summary
The primary function of this position is to support Commercial and Agricultural business growth by delivering accurate, timely, and professional service to our membership. The Account Manager is responsible for managing complex credit applications, developing and maintaining strong member relationships, and driving business development activities in alignment with the organization's Business Plan and Scorecard.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow a portfolio of agricultural and commercial loans and deposits.
- Build relationships with existing and prospective members through in-branch and onsite visits.
- Analyze financial statements and data to assess credit worthiness and recommend suitable solutions.
- Grant and decline lending applications within approved authorities; recommend applications exceeding limits to the appropriate approval level.
- Promote and cross-sell products and services, including insurance, to meet member needs and business goals; refer members to Investment Planning and Wealth Management as appropriate.
- Identify and develop a profitable loan and deposit portfolio through new business development and community outreach.
- Monitor and manage delinquent accounts and assist with collections as needed.
- Review portfolios on a regular basis to ensure quality, compliance, and early identification of problem accounts.
- Ensure loan profitability through appropriate application of interest rates, service charges, and fees in accordance with policy.
- Complete financial reporting and conduct regular portfolio reviews.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and support to junior lending staff and account managers.
- Stay informed of market trends, competitor offerings, and regulatory changes impacting commercial and agricultural lending.
- Participate in training, meetings, and professional development to ensure best practices are consistently applied.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in credit granting and commercial/agricultural lending.
- Grade 12 Education required; post-secondary education with a business focus is strongly recommended.
- Strong understanding of financial statements and key ratios used in credit review.
- Strong analytical, communication, and customer service skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong decision-making abilities.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Cooperative or credit union experience is considered an asset.
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
