Position Summary
The Welder/Fitter is responsible for fitting, fabricating, and welding metal components and assemblies in accordance with technical drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role supports shop production activities and ensures that all work meets safety, quality, and productivity expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Fabrication & Welding
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Fit and assemble metal components for welding
- Perform MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding as required
- Perform 6G TSSA Welding
- Operate fabrication equipment including grinders, torches, drills, and saws
- Inspect welds to ensure structural integrity and quality compliance
- Assist in layout and measurement of materials
Shop Operations
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Operating overhead crane at times
- Perform routine equipment checks and report maintenance concerns
- Support continuous improvement and productivity initiatives
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production targets
Health & Safety
- Follow all Soluroc safety policies and shop procedures
- Wear required PPE at all times
- Participate in safety meetings and training
- Report hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately
Qualifications & Experience
- Welder/Fitter certification or equivalent experience preferred
- 6G TSSA Coupon is an asset.
- 2+ years of fabrication and welding experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting
- Proficiency in Pipe fitting and welding.
- MIG welding (TIG and Stick considered an asset)
- Overhead Crane experience or certification is an asset
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience operating overhead cranes or forklifts considered an asset
